Chilangos

We apparently looked overwhelmed when we walked in the door, because Cezar immediately offered us a great orientation to the menu. Portions did seem small, but after eating some chips and salsa and one sope, I was actually really full! A great meal and great atmosphere!

Muffins that taste like donuts?

Woke up this morning with a need to bake, so I tried a new recipe from the Tasty Kitchen website.

They were pretty quick and easy to make, and didn’t require any specialty ingredients. Phil and I both think they are quite tasty, and Takk (our Siberian husky) has tried repeatedly to trade his toys for one. This recipe’s a keeper!

Muffins That Taste Like Donuts

Ingredients

  • 1-¾ cup Flour
  • 1-½ teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ⅓ cups Oil
  • ¾ cups White Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ¾ cups Milk
  • FOR THE TOPPING:
  • ¼ cups Butter
  • ⅓ cups White Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon

Preparation Instructions

Combine flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Combine oil, sugar, egg and milk. Add dry ingredients and stir only to combine.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a bowl. Combine the white sugar with the cinnamon in another bowl.
Shake muffins out while still hot. Dip muffins in butter, then into the sugar/cinnamon mix. Let cool.

We are two average people who love to eat.

I’m sure that our “reviews” may take on a more organized format eventually, but we’ve been talking about starting this blog since we began planning our move to Montana! Last night’s dinner out finally prompted us to actually get things under way. So, welcome to our gastronomical journey!
